Monday Morning 5 AM Thoughts

Hope everyone back home had a great 4th of July weekend.  We weren’t able to exactly observe it other than watch the fireworks in Port Lucaya on Friday night — otherwise we had regular workdays on Friday and Saturday and by the time it got to Sunday we were just too close to shooting to be able to relax and take a day off.  That said – it was a weekend in that the phone wasn’t ringing, emails weren’t coming in from the US, and for me there was the added plus that my  daughter Kaitlyn (who is one of 3 daughters and was the main inspiration for Alyssa, our character in the movie) is here for four days.  It’s great to have her around on so many levels — first, I just love her and it’s rare that we are together without other family members around, so that’s something special.  Secondly, she helps keep me focused on our Alyssa character in the movie in the sense that the progression in her life from 14 to 19 is also the progression that Alyssa in the movie will have made, and spending time with her has refreshed my view of just what Alyssa at 19 can/should be like.  Anyway, here’s a pic of the two of us yesterday having lunch at the site where Alyssa and her family will live in the movie. By the way it’s really, really hard to get decent pictures of me and I have to thank Paul Mockler, our underwater cinematographer, for getting one in this case that I will treasure for many, many years.
